Navigating 2026: A Landscape in Flux, A Moment to Refine

Sébastien Felix, founder of Influence Society, speaking with a microphone in front of a dark wood wall

As we move through the next phase in hospitality and brand storytelling, one truth has become increasingly clear: the fundamentals still matter, perhaps more than ever. While AI continues to dominate headlines and ignite imaginations, its practical role in hospitality is still unfolding. We’ve seen the hype. We’ve seen the headlines. But at Influence Society, we believe the real opportunity lies not in chasing every innovation, but in refining the groundwork. The brands that are thriving right now? They’re doubling down on clarity, consistency, and craft. They’re investing in story, in design, in the emotion that a brand elicits, because those are the elements AI can’t replicate.

Websites, still, remain the most essential digital window into a hotel’s soul. Long before AI-driven search changes the way guests discover you, it is your website that sets the tone, through typography, imagery, motion, and navigation. It’s where anticipation begins, where guests start to feel what staying with you might feel like. And in that sense, it remains one of your most powerful storytelling tools.

This past year, we observed a distinct shift toward bolder design choices: more vivid colour, more texture, more emotional presence. In uncertain markets, it’s the brands with personality, the ones that feel alive, that stay top of mind. There’s an opportunity here. A chance for hotels and design-led businesses to not retreat in ambiguity, but to amplify their distinctiveness. Those who continue to invest in their identity, visually, verbally, and experientially, tend to stand out, no matter the macro climate.

At the same time, a critical truth is emerging across every touchpoint: everything you create must mean something. There is no longer space for filler, for pages, posts, or pixels that serve no purpose. In an era where AI will increasingly generate more content, faster and at scale, the only content that will resonate is the kind created with intention. Every image, every word, every interaction must be designed to serve a purpose: to evoke emotion, to tell a story, to clarify identity. Not just more content. More meaningful content.

This does not mean reducing volume. In fact, we believe volume must increase, but so must the level of insight, originality, and resonance. Hospitality brands now have a renewed opportunity to own their narrative, especially through long-form formats like blogs, which are entering a renaissance. As AI search becomes more conversational and context-driven, your blog is no longer just a support channel. It’s a strategic brand asset.

But not just any blog. The content must be deeply contextual, written for real humans, rooted in the essence of your hotel and the world that surrounds it. Guests want to feel seen. So ask: Who are they? What moves them? What type of art do they collect? What sort of café do they seek at 10am? Build content that reflects their universe, and that connects that universe with the one your hotel inhabits.

Curate with intent. Recommend restaurants that match your guest’s aesthetic. Build guides with nuance, not generic top tens. Interview locals. Craft stories about nearby ateliers, seasonal rituals, or architectural details most guests miss. These pieces, when created with care, don’t just serve SEO. They shape perception. They make a guest feel understood before they’ve even arrived.

What we’re witnessing now is not just a shift in tools, but a shift in expectations. Technology will elevate the baseline. Design and meaning will be the differentiators. And the brands that embrace this, those who infuse their storytelling with emotional clarity, contextual intelligence, and visual elegance, will not just survive the next wave. They’ll lead it.

This Societies 2025 Recap is not just a snapshot of what happened; it’s a perspective on where hospitality branding is going. Toward clarity, not noise. Toward storytelling that moves, not just markets. And toward design that says something: boldly, beautifully, and with purpose.

A Bistro That Doubles as a Living Showroom

During Stockholm Design Week, the studio became a fully functional bistro, where guests don’t just admire the furniture; they experience it. From modular lighting by Blond to the enveloping Nest Club Chair by +Halle, every piece is in use, fostering interaction and authenticity. The New Language of Cultural Identity

Blurring the lines between sport and fashion, sportstyle isn’t just about performance—it’s about presence. A fusion of athletic heritage and streetwear aesthetics, it’s shaping a new cultural archetype where expression is as dynamic as the game itself. From ‘Blokecore’ nostalgia to high-fashion collaborations, this movement is redefining personal storytelling through apparel. The New Quiet: Why Brands Are Embracing Secret Events

The New Quiet: Why Brands Are Embracing Secret Events

In a world oversaturated with spectacle, the most magnetic brand experiences are now the ones you can’t see. From Cartier’s hush-hush poker night for Timothée Chalamet to Bottega Veneta’s underground concerts, secret events are quietly redefining cultural capital. These curated moments, deliberately off-grid, deliberately intimate, aren’t just marketing; they’re modern rituals of belonging. By trading access for aura, brands deepen loyalty, heighten intrigue, and invite only the most devoted into the fold. The message is clear: if you weren’t there, you’ll wish you had been.

A Room of His Own: Ramdane Touhami’s Tokyo Outpost

Tucked beneath the sycamores of Tokyo’s Nakameguro district, Words, Sounds, Colors and Shapes is less a store and more a living extension of Ramdane Touhami’s imagination. Inside, cinematic soundscapes fall from the ceiling, garments whisper stories of Japanese craftsmanship, and every object, whether rug, hoodie, or cup, carries the fingerprints of deep collaboration. Following his Paris flagship, Touhami’s Tokyo outpost is intimate, layered, and unapologetically personal. It’s not retail theatre, it’s a room, a gallery, a conversation. As Ramdane puts it: “I just wanted to do it perfectly.” And he has.

Why Brands Are Taking Risks Again

Why Brands Are Taking Risks Again

With digital culture moving at breakneck speed, neutrality is a death sentence for brand relevance. For Hotels to captivate their audience, bold, emotionally resonant marketing strategies are needed to stand out. System1’s research across 100,000 ads confirms it: most advertising fails because it evokes nothing. Nearly half of U.S. TV ads leave viewers indifferent, and in branding, indifference is more costly than controversy. Great advertising isn’t safe—it’s emotional. Adidas and Ant Man have rediscovered the art of provocation, taking direct aim at competitors, while Nike returns to its roots with “Winning Isn’t for Everyone,” a campaign as unapologetic as its legacy. In a world where attention is fleeting, only the bold will be remembered.

Nature has long been the world’s most ingenious architect, offering solutions to complex challenges with remarkable precision. In hospitality, nature-inspired structures and regenerative materials are redefining hotel design, blending aesthetics with sustainability. The Art of Spectacle

The Art of Spectacle

Leigh Bowery was never one to blend in. A visionary of excess, his East London council flat became a surrealist stage—an 11th-floor sanctuary where high camp met high concept. Star Trek wallpaper framed his world, Trojan’s art adorned the walls, and a baby grand piano set the tone for a life of performance. Taboo, his infamous nightclub, reshaped London’s underground, while his avant-garde costumes defied convention. From squats to the spotlight, Bowery sculpted his identity with fabric, paint, and unflinching audacity—forever a spectacle, always a statement.

A Defiant Floral, Inspired by Poetry and Song

A Defiant Floral, Inspired by Poetry and Song

Aesop’s latest fragrance, Aurner, is a defiant floral composition blending magnolia leaf, cedar heart, and chamomile—a bold reinterpretation of traditional florals. Crafted by perfumier Céline Barel, the scent draws inspiration from Nina Simone’s Lilac Wine and the lyrical works of Li Qingzhao, merging softness with strength. Aurner’s layered contrasts—fresh and warm, delicate and robust—echo Aesop’s signature approach to sensory storytelling. The launch is paired with a striking jewellery collaboration from Patcharavipa Bodiratnangkura, encapsulating Aesop’s design-centric, emotive, and boundary-pushing creative ethos.

Precision in Motion: The Graphic Edge of S/S 2025

Precision in Motion: The Graphic Edge of S/S 2025

A sharp focus on design and construction defined the S/S 2025 collections, where engineered silhouettes met bold, graphic precision. At Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri reinterpreted archival equestrian codes into lean, athletic tailoring—echoed across runways from Acne Studios' sculptural hourglass dresses to Balenciaga’s exaggerated lace-up fastenings. Captured through the lens of Wallpaper*’s April issue, these silhouettes become more than garments—they’re visual statements of control, craft, and contemporary edge. Each piece reflects a season shaped by precision, proportion, and a sleek, disciplined power.

Why Minimalism Still Resonates in the Home

Why Minimalism Still Resonates in the Home

Minimalism continues to hold space in contemporary interiors, not as a fleeting trend, but as a response to overstimulation and visual noise. Today’s minimalism is softer, more sensual: curved forms, textured ceramics, and neutral palettes that echo the calm of nature. Inspired by Japandi and organic modernism, these spaces are less about restraint and more about emotional clarity. In a chaotic world, a pared-back aesthetic offers a subtle form of restoration, where each object is considered, and every corner breathes with intention.

The Social Media Reckoning: What Comes Next?

The Social Media Reckoning: What Comes Next?

The digital town square is in disarray—algorithms stoke division, platforms peddle chaos, and users are tuning out. But disillusionment breeds opportunity. As social media fractures, smaller, curated spaces like Discord and Substack emerge, championing intimate dialogue over mass distraction. Meanwhile, thinkers like Mike Pepi urge us to imagine beyond platforms, advocating for tech that empowers institutions, not exploits them. The future of online connection won’t be found in another feed—but in building spaces that value depth, community, and human experience over engagement metrics. The question is: Will we seize the moment to design something better?

Google vs Microsoft in the age of digital assistance

Google vs Microsoft in the age of digital assistance

In the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, Google’s Gemini and Microsoft’s Copilot aren’t just competing tools—they’re design philosophies shaping how we engage with technology. Gemini leans into real-time, sensory-rich interaction, translating vision into answers. Copilot, meanwhile, explores AI’s emotional resonance through voice, memory, and even customizable visual personas. Both speak to a future beyond screens—where assistance feels intuitive, ambient, and human. Yet, questions remain: can these systems truly understand us, or are we training them to reflect a curated mirror of ourselves? Either way, design will determine how close they get.

In the world of design-led innovation, process matters. Forward-thinking companies like Google, Dell, and Amgen are transforming how strategy is made—by standardizing it. Drawing on principles of lean manufacturing, they treat strategy not as a scattered brainstorm, but as a refined system: setting bold ambitions, prioritizing decisions, and tracking outcomes with surgical precision.
